Production and quality

The SANZ project

From the start, three main principles have guided operations and decisions in SANZ – PRODUCTION, QUALITY and DEVELOPMENT – and they remain the same today.

PRODUCTION because the company policy has always been to keep every phase of the transformation process in the Spanish region of Aragon. And from the 1940s repair shop to today’s production plant, SANZ has retained control over its products. From reception of raw materials to the final packaging of parts to be sent to customers, every operation takes place within our facilities.

While much of the Spanish industrial fabric has chosen to relocate to lower-cost countries or to outsource part of their manufacturing processes far away from Spain, SANZ has remained faithful to this initial principle. It has invested in technology, updating constantly in order to always be in the lead of technical means of production.

SANZ is a byword for QUALITY in the spare part sector and among automotive manufacturers, and the brand is recognised and respected the world over. Crankshafts are a key part of an engine, so technical development has to be very precise in order to withstand critical working conditions and to achieve optimal engine performance.

The first step in manufacturing is to check with the Metallographic Laboratory that both the composition and structure of the raw materials correspond with the forging needed so that the parts can be machined.

In addition to the various controls and checks made during the process, 100% of the crankshafts undergo a final check to ensure that they fall within the parameters accepted by the Quality Department. Depending on the amount produced in each batch, a number of parts are also sent for analysis in the Metrology Laboratory where the latest 3D technology and dynamic dimensional tests are used.

By participating every year in a variety of international fairs, trade missions and prospecting tours and thanks to its close relationship with its customers, sales representatives and distributors, SANZ ensures it keeps up to date with market needs.

Based on this knowledge, the R&D Department DEVELOPS the new crankshaft models that will be in demand on the different markets and for different applications, trying to cover an increasingly wide range with a catalogue that includes as many novelties as possible, and offering the best service possible to our customers while meeting new demands as they arise.

Today our crankshafts can be adapted to engines for CASE, CATERPILLAR, CUMMINS, DAF, DETROIT DIESEL, DEUTZ, DOOSAN, FIAT IVECO, GM, INTERNATIONAL, ISUZU, JOHN DEERE, KAMAZ, KOMATSU, MACK, MAN, MERCEDES BENZ, MITSUBISHI, NEW HOLLAND, NISSAN, PERKINS, RENAULT, SCANIA and VOLVO.

But SANZ does not only produce crankshafts as spare parts. About 10% of its crankshafts are for international original equipment manufacturers, these being the most demanding customers in the market.

R&D + i

To innovate, resources have to be allocated to activities falling outside everyday production.

At Cigüeñales SANZ we know that investments made in research, development and innovation in our machinery, processes and products has a direct effect on the quality of our crankshafts and, therefore, also on our customer satisfaction. Innovation is knowing how to successfully deal with change.
